Activities in this workbook combine channeling and solving mazes.


Why channeling activities are important

Chanelling (drawing a line between two guiding lines) stimulate child’s eye - hand coordination. As chidren continuously check the distance of their lines from guiding lines, visual-motor integration and fine-motor hand and fingers movements’ control is developing.

Why maze solving activities are important for children


Activities with mazes stimulate development of executive functioning skills and strengthen visual-motor integration. When children solve mazes and their eyes scan them in order to find possible solutions, their brains search for various strategies and apply most promising ones in particular tasks. Deciding between different strategies (e.g. starting from one or another end of the line) require and develop their executive functioning skills.

Maze paths stimulate hand-eye coordination and hand/fingers fine-motor control. Drawing through the path without hitting the lines also lead to greater grip control. These tasks also contribute to building patience and frustration tolerance in children, as they require children to take their time rather than rushing. With their progress towards bumping into border lines less and less, their confidence is growing as well.

Worksheets and activities in this workbook

Activities and tasks in this workbook strenghten children’s executive functioning skills, visual-motor integration and basic graphomotor skills by searching for the right path among the many and drawing a line in the middle of it.

The difficulty of tasks in this workbook is increasing by increasing complexity and number of the provided paths. It is recommended for a child to start with a simple task to provide immediate success, and then work towards completing mazes of increased difficulty.
