channeling: workbook 2.1

wavy and curved lines

Why channeling activities are important

Drawing a line between two guiding lines stimulate eye - hand coordination. When we draw in the middle of a restrained path and our eyes simultaneously compare our lines with boundary lines, our brains initiate hand and fingers micro-movements to correct the direction of the line.

Channeling activities range from wide and straight to narrow and curved paths. Moving from simple tasks to gradually more complex ones improves visual-motor integration and fine-motor hand and fingers movements control.

Worksheets and activities in this workbook

Activities in this workbook strengthen visual-motor integration and basic graphomotor skills by drawing paths between the guiding lines (in the middle of the provided paths). In some activities helping dotted lines are provided in the middle of the path.

Tasks difficulty increase throughout the workbook by:

  • increased complexity of lines,

  • decreased space between the guiding lines,

  • decreased density of dots in helping lines.
